Product
At Markant, we take pride in using the best and most sustainable products available. To achieve this, we produce these products ourselves at our own facilities. This gives us full control over the production process and allows us to ensure that our products meet the highest sustainability standards.
People
In the material and product selection, we not only consider minimal environmental impacts, but also the well-being of our employees. We invest in workplace safety, health, and well-being to provide good working conditions. This way, we create not only sustainable products, but also a sustainable work environment.
Environment
At Markant, we offer sustainable products and services to ensure their longevity. We repair and maintain them and provide responsible disposal services for material reuse. This way, we strive towards a circular economy where we collectively take responsibility for our products and the environment.
Dutch Design
As a Dutch designer and manufacturer, Markant has actively engaged in implementing circular principles in our designs in recent years.
Our focus is on designing beautiful, functional, and sustainable office furniture that has a positive impact on people and the environment. To achieve this, we use sustainable materials and modular designs. With this modular approach, components can be easily replaced or upgraded without the need to replace the entire product. This not only extends the lifespan of the furniture but also reduces waste.
MSA
Markant's MSA system stands for "Markant System Architecture". This means that our workspace range is based on a a unified system concept. With its modular design and interchangeable components, it allows for creating any desired combination of worktables, conference tables, and bench setups.
The MSA system manages the modularity and connectivity of the components that are assembled into a sturdy frame structure or a complete desk. We strive to make these components from mono-materials so that they can be easily separated and recycled after use. This contributes to our circular principles and our commitment to sustainability.
Locally Manufactured
At Markant, we locally produce our furniture using sustainable materials. This allows us to not only ensure the quality of our products but also contribute to a better environment.
In addition, we collaborate with partners who share the same commitment to sustainability as we do. Our suppliers consciously choose sustainable materials, hold ISO 14001 certification, and carefully consider their energy consumption and waste management practices.
Wood
The worktops used in our furniture are produced according to the NEN-EN-ISO 9001 standard and carry the FSC® and PEFC™ certifications. We also utilize locally sourced Dutch Wood, which is sustainably harvested from nearby forests.
Metal
Markant furniture is constructed using 95% recycled aluminum and steel. The production process adheres to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standards.
Fabric
At Markant, we custom upholster our furniture after it has been ordered. This allows us to have all the materials in stock without leaving any unsold furniture behind. By doing so, we reduce waste and contribute to a sustainable future.
Our Harmony and Rhapsody fabrics are made from virgin materials, yet they are 100% recyclable and comply with both the OEKO-TEX 100 class 2 and REACH standards. This means they are safe to use and do not contain harmful chemicals.
In collaboration with our clients, we can also utilize the beautiful collection of Camira, which offers 100% recycled fabrics.
Delivery & Installation
Delivery routes are optimized to minimize CO2 emissions, and recyclable and reusable packaging materials are used to reduce waste.
By considering volume and weight reduction in the packaging during the design process, more efficient and sustainable solutions can be found. These solutions are not only environmentally friendly but also cost-saving when it comes to transporting and storing the product.
Refurbishing & Recycling
Our product range is fully dismantleable, allowing easy separation of components.
Components that are still usable or repairable are reused. When the lifecycle is truly over, the components can be fully disassembled and recycled.
Discover our online outlet with a wide range of refurbished products. Each item is carefully selected, thoroughly cleaned, revitalized, and, if necessary, repaired by our expert team.
Markant Product Stewardship program
With the Product Stewardship Program, Markant adopts a sustainable approach to the lifecycle of its products. When a customer no longer needs their product, the company strives to find alternative solutions instead of simply disposing of it.
Markant works together with the customer to give the product a second life, such as repurposing it in an office environment, donating it to social organizations, or disassembling and recycling the product. By doing so, Markant ensures that their products continue to serve a purpose and do not contribute to unnecessary waste in landfills.
